We know that Stockton doesn’t have the money to pour into Animal Services, and we’re willing to work with a director who follows the law and has the goal of saving lives, including raising funds from private sources. But the Police Department invested months of employee time and money in an investigation. That investigation is now complete and yet they continue to employ a director who breaks the law every day by killing owner-surrendered animals on intake and by withholding veterinary care to injured animals (a violation of animal cruelty laws, part of California’s Penal Code), and who continued to break the law even as she was investigated.
How is that a good use of scarce government resources?
And what does it say about the Stockton Police Department that it continues to employ a criminal despite having ample evidence of her criminal activity?
C’mon, Chief Jones, make the decision already.
